Reading Seth poem I started to sob. It is beautiful, Darrel. What possessed you, though, to give it to Karen on her way out. Was it because you couldn't stand the combined grief? We know - how patients 'drop the bomb' 3 minutes before the end of the session. Something like that?! Very impressed with your blog and newly baked professional site. With love. Felix Yaroshevsky.
"Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself." (G.B. Shaw)
So, who am I, so far? I'm a father, a son, a dreamer, a runner, a Canadian, a family therapist, an INFP. . . and at least here, a writer. I've sat in a sweat lodge, climbed a "Fourteener", performed a wedding, chewed raw whale blubber, written a poem, sung in a choir, defended a Ph.D. dissertation, taught a university course in my second language, run the Boston Marathon (twice); and on the flip side, I've survived loss, experienced failure, and faced disillusionment. My life is an ever-changing network of relationships, memories, obligations and dreams, as is the case for each of us. As I reach the midpoint of my life, I'm more determined than ever to connect with you, you with whom I share this "Hero's Journey" we call life. My ambition is to be fully awake and fully alive, and to help other people strive towards the same goal. According to Irenaeus, "The glory of God is a man fully alive."
I'm not sure which voice I'll end up finding through this blog, but may it serve my personal growth and your encouragement. Here goes nothing . . .
